5 things I want to achieve in 2017!

This would normally be a post written at the beginning of the year however as I've only recently started blogging I'm posting this now. I never really take time to think about things I want to do or achieve each year so every year that goes past I feel I haven't done anything! As there's about 7 months left of the year I feel these few things are reasonable goals to set myself.




1) Take blogging more seriously.

I've been thinking about starting up a blog for a long time but have never gotten round to doing it. I remembered I had this old blog so I've revamped it and will try to get weekly posts up about things I'm interested in. Even if no one reads it it will be a way for me to be a bit creative, expand my writing skills and get some thoughts and feelings out! I'm excited to challenge myself to sticking to a routine and seeing what content I can create!

2) Run a half marathon.

This has been a goal of mine for years. I used to run regularly until about 2 years ago when I lost my mojo and never got it back! This will also tie in with my desire to lose weight but I want it to be more about feeling connected to my body. This may sound strange but I used to love the feeling after a long run, the 'runners high' and aching the next day! I used to love feeling strong and energetic. Having a goal such as a half marathon will keep me motivated to keep at it and I know how proud of myself I'll be when I cross the finish line!

3) Travel more.

Obviously this is limited to the UK as funds are limited! But I really do want to get out and see more of the country! Cornwall, The Lake District and just any countryside would be a treat. I'd love to get out walking in the summer and seeing the beautiful sights that are out there! Nothing makes me happier than being out in nature and spending a good few hours in the sunshine! Hopefully in the future I will be able to see more of the world but I feel that finding little places in the UK to visit is a good start!

4) Start writing a book.

This has also always been a goal in the back of my mind for as long as I can remember. I have a few story ideas that I'd like to bring to life and again challenge myself and my capabilities as a writer! It will be a slow process but I know that if I set it as a goal for this year to at least get started I won't think to myself 'I'll never finish it in 7 months!', and then give up! I am in no way expecting to be the next J.K. Rowling but I feel I could write a good book or two!

5) Get my anxiety under control.

I need to start taking a bit more care of myself and my mental health. I often neglect it and just push things to the back of my mind but hopefully with counselling I'm starting in a few weeks and having this blog will help me out! I'm terrible at talking things through and saying how I feel so I really want to work on that too. I need to realise that there are people around me who care and want to help in any way they can! I'd like to finish this year feeling a lot better about myself and be able to be a bit more independent!
