Week 1 of Walk All Over Cancer! #WalkAllOverCancer

I've successfully completed my first week of Cancer Research's Walk All Over Cancer challenge!! 98,500 steps have been stepped and I'm feeling good! I'd like to just reflect on the past week and set some goals for the coming one!

Day 1
Started the day feeling surprisingly positive and ready for the day's challenge! Where I live is connected to a lovely country park so I decided I'd take myself round there. It hadn't felt like I was walking that long when my Fitbit started to vibrate indicating I'd hit my 10,000 step target. By the time I got home I had done 12,370 steps. Then that evening I joined my sister at a local exercise class which shot my total for the day up to 19,359!!

Day 2 - 4
Days 2 and 3 I had done just over 10,000 steps on each day. Although it wasn't as high of a number as day 1 I was still feeling great for sticking to it so far! Then come day 4, being a Sunday and having the mentality that Sundays are for relaxing - I did just that! I don't think I even passed 1,000 steps!! I did beat myself up a bit about not getting out and started to get angry at myself for giving up so easily. But I had to keep reminding myself that it was just an off day and I'd be straight back into it tomorrow!

Day 5
This was my best day yet! I had a doctors appointment so I convinced myself to walk there! I had to keep thinking to myself 'It's only 3 miles!! Come on!'. I had started to power walk because I thought I was going to be late for my appointment but it turned out I got there with 30 minutes to spare! With the walk back and another exercise class in the evening I ended the day on 24,090 steps!!!

Day 6 - 8
Day 6 I was feeling fairly tired as expected after the day before! It took a lot of encouraging in my head to get out walking. In the evening I went to another exercise class but this one had a lot of sexy moves and shaking your bum which makes me feel SO uncomfortable (I'll be writing a post soon about struggling with feeling feminine) so I sat half of it out and just managed to do the routines I could do! Finished up on 13,760 steps! Day 7 was another missed day for me! All I managed was 5,186 steps from going into town in the evening with my friend! Onto day 8 and I had managed to find a new route in my country park that was a little longer! Also at the end I was intrigued to see if a path I had seen at the beginning led to where I thought it did (it did) so that added a few extra thousand steps! Finishing up the week with 15,398 felt massive and like a huge accomplishment!

I'm so proud of myself for sticking with this challenge. I'm not seeing it as trying to raise the most money I'm more so seeing it as a way of motivating me to get out the house and do some exercise! I'm feeling great and although I'm still struggling with my mood swings and negative body image, I love nothing more that chucking on my headphones and getting out into nature for an hour or two! Thinking about how far I've walked this week is amazing!

This next week I'd like to hit 100,000 steps for the week and I'd like to try and walk in at least one new place. Although my local country park is familiar and feels safe and comfortable, I want to see more of the beautiful places in my area! Feeling positive and actually quite excited for the week ahead!!
