The importance of 'me time' at Christmas! | BLOGMAS 2017 DAY 10

Evening! Day 10 is here and I wanted to talk about how important it is to take time out for yourself around Christmas time!

While the hustle and bustle of the festive season is well and truly alive, it's very easy to get caught up in the frantic and stressful nature of this time of year. I wanted to share a few ways to take some 'me time' and forget about it all for a little while!

1) Take a long, relaxing bubble bath.

The classic. I know that having a boiling hot bath with my favourite bubbles or bath bomb makes me feel amazing. I just put some music on and lay there for ages with my eyes shut. Although sometimes I do get carried away and spend about 45 minutes acting like I'm singing to a crowd at Wembley, it's still time to myself that I'm enjoying!

2) Pamper yourself.

Book yourself in for a manicure, go get your hair done or treat yourself to a massage. Physically going out of the house and getting away for an hour or two will leave you feeling calm and happy. Plus, you'll have some snazzy new nails to premiere on Christmas Day!

3) Go for a walk.

Take the dog, take a friend or take your headphones! Walking is one of the main ways I de-stress! I just grab my headphones, wrap up warm and get going! But do always make sure you're wearing too many layers so that if you do get too hot while walking, you can take something off. Best to have too many clothes than not enough!

4) Have a tidy up!

Is the thought of guests arriving for Christmas celebrations terrifying you? I'm sure you're not the only one! We all want to make a good impression and tidying and cleaning the house can seem like a daunting task! But it doesn't have to be! When I need to tidy or clean I set a timer for one hour, pop some music on and get going! Whatever I have achieved in that hour is what I will do for that day. That way I don't get too overwhelmed with all the tasks that do need doing and feel accomplished with what I have done!

5) Get cooking!

Look up some fun, festive recipes you'd like to try out and try them out! Whether it's a starter, a main or puddings and treats, you'll wow your friends and family with your culinary skills! Make sure you've got everything you need and measured out before you start anything! Also make sure your dishwasher and sink are clear and ready to be loaded so you can keep your counters clear of clutter! Pinterest has loads of lovely ideas so pop over there and take a look!!

6) Have a film night!

Be it alone or with friends, taking some time to sit down and watch one of your favourite films is a good way to switch off and focus on something else! Grab some chocolates, put your phone down and you're good to go! Better yet, make an evening of it! Get yourself a bottle of something and wind down for the night, ready to get yourself to bed feeling content and happy!

So there are just a few ways to deal with the holiday stress! I hope some of these are useful to you and please remember as much as this time of year is about giving to others, you still have to think about yourself!!

Thank you for reading and I'd love to know what you do for 'me time'! Let me know over on Twitter! :)

See you tomorrow for day 11 of Blogmas!!
